Lead Pastor

Pastor Robert & Dianne Wengerd

Life has been an interesting journey.  Earning a bachelor’s degree in
business administration and having worked in a bank for a number
of years, I assumed that my life-time career would be in the business
world.  I, however, experienced a growing desire to serve the Lord
and subsequently received a clear call to pastoral ministry.

I served a Mennonite church in central Ohio for over ten years and
have now been here for over 25 years. Along the way I also had
opportunities to serve the broader church in a number of ways. It’s
been a delight to experience God at work time and time again.

I’ve been happily married for over forty years. My wife, Dianne,
taught school and mentored newer teachers before retiring in 2019.
She now enjoys taking care of our two grand-daughters while our
daughter teaches.

Whether you’ve been a follower of Jesus for many years or whether
you are just now exploring the Christian faith, I’m sure that you
too can grow spiritually in the context of this congregation. Please
know that visitors are expected in our services and that you are

Pastor Bob

Associate Pastor

Pastor Adam & Bonnie Shank, with children Jonathan, Lily, Emmanuel, and Josiah

Hello, my name is Adam Shank and I’ve had the privilege of serving North Lima Mennonite Church
as an associate pastor since 2020.  My primary role is preaching, prayer, and leadership.  One of my
greatest joys in ministry is to see people changed by God’s life-giving Word.

Since 2010, I have also been working with Wycliffe Bible Translators.  I’m currently serving as a
translation consultant, making trips to Africa several times per year.  One of my greatest joys as a
translation consultant is to make God’s Word available to people who have never had the opportunity
to hear or read the Bible for themselves.

I have been married to the wonderful Bonnie Shank since 2002 and we have four thriving children:
Lily, Jonathan, Josiah, and Emmanuel.

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to receive a B.A. in Biblical Studies at Cedarville University,
graduate-level studies in Linguistics at the University of North Dakota, and a Master of Theological
Studies at Columbia Theological Seminary.  I’ve also had the opportunity of studying French in
France, Hebrew in Israel, and an African language in Africa!

When I’m not engaged in pastoral or translational work, I’m usually doing something on our farm
with my family like tending to our cattle, goats and dogs, building or fixing something, hunting or
fishing, or simply enjoying God’s great outdoors.
